Who We Are

Built for real
Canadians.

Quantara was built out of frustration with the existing landscape of Canadian finance content — dominated by large media companies with undisclosed advertiser relationships and American-focused advice that doesn't translate to Canadian banking realities. We set out to build something better: independent, transparent, and actually useful.

Every review, rate, and recommendation is specific to Canadian cards and banking products.
Our Mission

Finance advice that works
for Canadians

Most personal finance content targeting Canadians is either recycled American advice or thinly veiled advertising. Quantara exists to fill that gap — with honest, research-backed guidance on the credit cards, banking products, and financial decisions that actually matter to people living in Canada.

We believe that whether you're a student getting your first credit card, a retiree optimizing your travel benefits, or a newcomer building credit from scratch — you deserve clear, unbiased information that helps you make the right decision for your situation.

◈ Principle 01
Independence first
Our rankings are determined by our methodology, not by who pays us. Affiliate revenue is disclosed and never influences editorial decisions.
◈ Principle 02
Canada-specific
We only cover Canadian products for Canadian audiences. No converting USD figures, no irrelevant American card recommendations.
◈ Principle 03
Always current
Card terms change constantly. We review and update our content weekly to ensure rates, fees, and offers reflect what's actually available today.
Our Methodology

How we score cards

Every card on Quantara receives a score out of 100 based on five weighted criteria. The same methodology applies to every card regardless of whether an affiliate relationship exists.

01
Reward Rate
35% of score
The primary earn rate on everyday categories — groceries, dining, transit, and general purchases — weighted by typical Canadian spending patterns.
35%
02
Approval Accessibility
25% of score
Income requirements, credit score thresholds, and how achievable approval is for the target audience profile of each card.
25%
03
Annual Fee
20% of score
The annual fee assessed relative to the value of rewards and benefits offered — a $120 fee is only justified if the card delivers more than $120 in value.
20%
04
Perks & Insurance
10% of score
Travel insurance, purchase protection, extended warranty, lounge access, and other benefits that add real monetary value for cardholders.
10%
05
Credit Building
10% of score
Whether the card reports to both major Canadian credit bureaus, offers credit limit increases, and supports long-term credit file development.
10%
Score = Quantara Rank
Out of 100
The weighted total of all five criteria produces the Quantara Score. Cards are ranked within each profile category based on this score alone.
